TexasRotarians boost awareness, raise $80,000

District 5790’s annual conference in May featured a panel of global health experts who discussed polio eradication. The panel, moderated by Past RI Director Phil Silvers, included representatives from Rotary,the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The discussions focused on how each organization is working in partnership with the others toward the goal of eradicating polio worldwide. Earlier this year, thedistrictraised $80,000 at an End Polio Now Banquet that featured keynote speaker Robert Scott, chair of Rotary’s International PolioPlus Committee.
