The RC of FW Endowment Committee has just allocated $5000 in matching funds for any club who would like to contribute to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.  As you know, they have been especially busy distributing food to people  who were affected during the major ice storm.  We actually had the Rotary Club of Verrazano in Brooklyn reach out and donate $1000, of which we’ll match, leaving $4000 left.

We are seeking Rotary partners in this project that will be serving friends and neighbors throughout DFW.
The President and CEO of the TAFB is Julie Butner, a member of Fort Worth Rotary Club.  In her words (and pictures):

* Last Thursday-Saturday TAFB direct to client Emergency mobiles have served nearly 10,000 families and close to 1M pounds of food, this does not include the food we are providing to our 360 partner agencies across our 13 country service area. I won’t have those numbers until Monday pm but can tell you many partners were slow to reopen which is why we made the executive decision to distribute direct to client from our warehouse on Thursday (first time ever in our history)
*TAFB is planning other director to client “drive through” distributions on Monday (Herman Clark) and Thursday (Globe Life if we can secure it) because the need is higher than anticipated due to the winder vortex  loss of power and water
*Funding covers transportation, purchased food (items that are not donated but needed to provide a complete, nutritious distribution such a kid friendly, senior and homeless ready to eat items) and overhead.

*we need volunteers!
