Rotary Builders Recognized at Area 10 All Clubs Luncheon

DG Mary Ann McDuff presented the latest Rotary Builder Awards of 2016-2017 to three District 5790 members at the Denton County Area All Clubs Luncheon on Friday, August 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lewisville, TX. Penny Gee of the Denton RC, Sam Wilson of Flower Mound RC, and Andy Eads of the Cross Timbers RC were the three recipients.
Penny Gee of the Denton Rotary Club has been a Rotarian since 2008. She graduated with a BS from Texas State University and is currently a Sales and 
Marketing Consultant with Gee-Force Consulting and Training. Penny served on the DRC Board of Directors from 2013 to 2016. She currently chairs the Youth Services Committee and was instrumental in reactivating the University of North Texas Rotaract Club. Penny is working on establishing a Rotaract Club at Texas Woman's University this fall and is also active with the Shelter Box program through District 5790. As if that is not enough, she is also the top sales person for the DRC Flag Program.

Sam Wilson is a 17 year member of the Flower Mound Rotary Club. The bio prepared for his nomination for the award reads,
"Sam is not one who seeks the spotlight, but he will always give a helping hand and supports our club in many ways. He has been a longtime supporter of our Vine and Dine event, as well as being the “Parking Guru” at the Neon Night 5K and Rotary fest. He makes our life easier, due to the fact that we can always count on him to get the job done. In addition to being a proud Rotarian Sam is a husband, father, grandfather, active community member . . . and an avid golfer.
At the beginning of the 2015-2016 Rotary year, our club helped sponsor a new club in our area. This initially results in our membership roster declining and we needed someone to help recruit new members to the club. Without hesitation, Sam was once again up to the task of getting the job done. Sam has subsequently worked hard to promote our club in the community and attract new members to the club. When guests or visitors arrive to our meetings, his wonderful welcoming smile and handshake are there to greet them. We are all blessed to know Sam Wilson, call him our friends, and a fellow Rotarian."
Andy Eads is a charter member and was the first President of the new Cross Timbers Rotary Club. His nominating bio reads, "Andy is the undisputed driver of this new club. Once it was clear that Cross Timbers Rotary would become a reality, he kicked into high gear to build a club of significance. Assembling an original group of six founding members, Andy pushed them through the arduous chartering process. Hours and hours of work went into setting things up the right way, which paid off as the club began its rapid growth.
The most important part of starting a new club is having the vision to see what you want a club to become. Without a doubt, everything Andy did was based on the fact that what we were starting would still be here 100 years from now. Basically, we were building a legacy.
He went through his contact list and called every person he thought would benefit from being a part of the new club. This mostly included people who had never before been in Rotary. He encouraged the founders, the board, and every new member to also extend one-on-one invitations to those they would like to see become a part of the club.
As a result of his efforts, and his encouragement to the members, Cross Timbers Rotary now has 99 members, and more than 30 of those were sponsored by Andy!!
The members of the Cross Timbers Rotary Club credit Andy Eads with the phenomenal growth of the club and with the success of the projects undertaken so far. We feel strongly that he embodies the spirit of Rotary and truly exemplifies what it means to be a Rotarian. He is 110% Rotary – and it is evident to all who meet him – and is truly a Rotary Builder!
Andy is a native Texan and fifth generation Denton County resident. After graduating from Liberty Christian School, he received his BBA from Howard Payne University and his Masters of Public Administration from the University of North Texas.
Andy Eads is the Denton County Precinct 4 Commissioner, an office he’s held since 2007. He began his public service career at the Town of Addison, and prior to elected office, he was a top-producing agent with RE/MAX DFW. Andy lives in Flower Mound with his wife Ginger, a fellow Cross Timbers Rotarian, and their children, Everett, Addison and Caroline."
