Rotarians rally to provide aid to Haiti devastated by a massive earthquake.

January 13, 2010

Dear Rotarians of District 5790,

As we have been seeing in the news, Haiti has suffered a devastating earthquake. We know the injury and death toll will be extensive, not to mention the property damage. Our hearts and prayers go out to the all of the people who have been affected by this tragedy.

In correspondence with Past RI Director Barry Rassin from district 7020 which includes Haiti, we have learned that much of the Rotarian leadership is in tact and that 500 shelter boxes are in route now. He said that we are still learning about the extent of the injury and loss of life and damages.

District 7020 does have a disaster relief plan, and so does our district. We are in a position to accept tax deductible donations that will be forwarded to the Rotarians in the affected area. As you are aware, contributions going through Rotary channels do not have fees deducted for administrative services. A contribution designated to Haiti relief made through our District 5790 Foundation (which is a 501 (C) 3,) will 100% go direct to help out those in desperate need.

Please help our Rotary friends and the affected people in Haiti with your tax deductible contribution through District 5790. Make it payable to "District 5790 Foundation," mark it for "Haiti Relief and mail it to:
