The Public Image Committee hosted a Best Practice Session in late May focused on effective virtual meetings and member engagement.  The meeting was led by Carlo Capua with tips on running an effective and exciting virtual meeting.  A panel discussion on member engagement followed.  Here are some tips from that meeting, plus a few more:

10.  Stay social - Plan events and activities that unite your members, while keeping them safely apart.  Events like picnics or driveway visits can be great opportunities for fellowship.
9.  Be of service - Service is the tie that binds us as Rotarians.  Be creative and seek out new opportunities to help out in your community.  Many groups have evolving needs, so stay curious and be willing to try something new.
8.  Host a learning lab - Do you have some members that are not tech-savvy and others that are tech-experts?  Get them together so that everyone can be more comfortable in our new Rotary environment.
7.  Start a book club - "Century of Service : The Story of Rotary International" is a great one to start with.
6.  Enjoy a meal together - Agree on a set time and open up a virtual dinner.
5.  Take a world tour together - Ask a different Rotarian each week to spotlight a global Rotary International project.
4.  Have a parade - We can honor our remarkable Rotarians in the same manner that kiddos are getting celebrated for graduations and birthdays.  Select a Rotarian each week to celebrate, decorate those cars, and honk loudly!
3.  Celebrate common interests - Seek out other bakers, bird watchers, golfers, or wine drinkers in your club and host some virtual get-togethers.
2.  Member spotlights - Shine on one of your members each week.  Have one member interview another and share back the story of their family, adventures, career, and hobbies.
1.  Just reach out - Nothing replaces human contact in times when we may all be feeling a little isolated.  Pick up the phone, write a note, send a text.  Make sure your club members know you are thinking of them.
