District Governor Elect, Chris McLucas attends the Rotary International Assembly

District 5790 Rotarians, your 2017-2018 District Governor, Christopher J McLucas and his wife Heather, attended Rotary International Assembly January 19-25, 2017 in San Diego California with 543 fellow District Governors from more than 200 countries in the world representing the District Governor Class of 2017-2018.DG Chris stated, “The energy and fellowship was something that every Rotarian would definitely benefit from experiencing”. The Rotary International Assembly is a mandatory training for all District Governor-Elects throughout the world. During the yearly International Assembly the theme for the next year is announced. DG Chris has sent the theme for the 2017-2018 Rotary year to all of the Rotarians in District 5790: Rotary: Making A Difference.
The theme for 2017-2018 is the most simplistic theme in years to tell the world exactly what we as Rotarians a District and an organization do in the world, said DG Chris. DG Chris’ spouse Heather stated, “Being a part of the International Assembly gave me a more in depth insight into the world of Rotary and how much Rotary does for humanity”
DG Chris is in the process of preparing for the year with the District 5790 Presidents. Each President is required to attend President Elect Training Seminar (“PETS”) in February 2017 where they will be provided several changes to the manner and method by which Rotary Clubs can operate to work on increasing Membership. DG Chris said “Membership in the United States is in crisis and can have a strong and irreparable effect on our organization if it is not addressed”.
DG Spouse Heather stated, “The Earlyact program in Rotary a fantastic program and has the potential of spreading the word about Rotary to people that may never have known about Rotary” DG Spouse Heather is going to work to establish Earlyact Clubs in District 5790 during the 2017-2018 year.
