Current District Governor, Mary Ann McDuff has issued the following announcement to all District 5790 Rotary Members:

I am honored and pleased to share with you that the 2016-2017 District Governor Nominating Committee met on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the Denton Country Club in Argyle, Texas. The Nominating Committee, composed of myself as Chair, and the five immediate Past District Governors, interviewed applicants for 2019-2020 District Governor.  I am privileged to announce that longtime Rotarian and member of the Rotary Club of Arlington (chartered 1923), Assistant Governor Peter Scott, was chosen to serve in this esteemed role for 2019-2020.

Assistant Governor Peter will hold the title of District Governor Nominee Designate (DGND) until July 1 when he will assume the title of District Governor Nominee (DGN).  I announced Peter's selection to his home Club on this  past Thursday, March 16, in Arlington, at the First United Methodist Church of Arlington.  This announcement began a 30 day period of publication for input and challenge prior to formal notice of Peter's selection to Rotary International.

It is a pleasure to share the following biographical information with you on Assistant Governor Peter Scott.  And I believe this information exemplifies the senior leadership record and professional and personal qualities, attributes, and characteristics required to hold the office of District 5790 Governor.   With a record of volunteer management in many organizations, AG Peter is known recently for his high level of success in implementing the multi-club concept where area Rotary clubs join together with the goal of building vibrant clubs to make a community impact.

I am challenging us to continue to seek out and mentor future District Governor candidates who are dedicated Rotarian, community leaders and who areexcited, enthused, and engaged.  To meet this challenge, I am asking us to believe strongly that a District Governor is a leader of Rotarians who areequalizers and avenging angels for those in need of assistance.   And I am reminding us to seek out a District Governor who agrees wholeheartedly with RI President John Germ and Rotary's founder, Paul Harris, who believe that serving humanity is "the most worthwhile thing a person can do," and that being a part of Rotary is a "great opportunity" to make that happen.

Please join me in congratulating our District 5790 family member, Peter Scott.  As my mentor, boss, and good friend, 1996-1997 District Governor Wilkes Berry, would say if he were alive today, "Peter is a Rotarian's Rotarian."

In Rotary Service,

DG Mary Ann McDuff

The following represents Peter's Rotary Biography:

Peter Scott
Rotary Club of Arlington

Peter is a long time Arlington resident who began his Rotary and professional careers in Cleburne in 1983.  Peter married Lynn in 1985 just prior to her graduation from The University of Texas School of Law.  They moved to Arlington in 1988, where daughter, Kristin, was born in 1990, and son, Joseph, in 1992.  After moving his Edward Jones Investments office from Cleburne to Arlington in 1994, Peter joined the Rotary Club of Arlington and immediately became involved in fundraising for a scholarship program that later received recognition from the White House.  Peter became involved in fundraising for all Arlington Rotary Clubs and eventually in the work of District 5790 as Assistant Governor in Area 12, over eight Rotary Clubs in Arlington.   His vocation in fund development led him to current service as Board Member of the Arlington Rotary Foundation.

A native of Honeoye Falls, New York, Peter moved to Texas as soon as possible!  He studied Psychology and Political Science at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York, where he was President of the Student Senate, laying the groundwork for future leadership roles. In addition to Rotary duties and responsibilities, Arlington community engagement activities include: Arlington Convention and Visitors Board; Vice President, Forest Hills Homeowners Association; President, Board of Theatre Arlington; and Member, Finance Committee of the American Association of Community Theatre.   Peter and Lynn are long time members of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Arlington and are involved in many aspects of Church life.

Recently retired from Edward Jones, Peter is honored to be selected as District Governor for 2019-2020.  He looks forward to building a team that will support all of the dynamic Rotary Clubs in 5790.  "I can't wait to begin working with all Rotarians -- past, present, and future -- and feel particularly blessed with this new opportunity."
